Gold pip calculator (XAUUSD)
There are three definitions of a pip in gold, and the one your platform uses changes the answer tenfold.
Platforms disagree about what a pip in gold is. If yours quotes gold to two decimal places and calls the last digit a point, a pip is usually $0.10. Results are in US dollars; your broker converts them if your account is in another currency.

Currency pairs have one agreed pip. Gold does not. Depending on the platform and the person, a pip in XAUUSD can mean a move of $0.01, $0.10 or a whole $1 in the gold price. That is why two traders can describe the same move as 50 pips and 500 pips and both be right.
So the calculator asks which one you mean. Value per pip = pip size × ounces held. On 0.1 lots, which is 10 ounces, a $0.10 pip is worth $1, a $0.01 pip is worth $0.10, and a $1 pip is worth $10.
The reliable way to tell which your platform uses is to look at how gold is quoted. Most show it to two decimal places, such as 2,400.25. Many platforms treat the last digit as a point and ten points as a pip, which makes a pip $0.10. If in doubt, measure a move you know in dollars and see what the platform calls it.
Everything is in US dollars, because gold is priced in dollars. If your account is in another currency your broker converts the result at its own rate.
The ones people actually ask.
