Gold profit calculator (XAUUSD)
Gold is not quoted like a currency pair, which is why the usual pip arithmetic gives the wrong answer.
One standard lot of XAUUSD is 100 troy ounces. Results are in US dollars, because gold is quoted in dollars. If your account is in sterling your broker applies the exchange rate, and this does not.

One standard lot of XAUUSD is 100 troy ounces. That single fact is most of what people get wrong, because a formula that works on EURUSD does not carry over.
So the arithmetic is simply: profit = price move in dollars × ounces held. At 0.1 lots you hold 10 ounces, and a move from $2,400 to $2,415 is $15 × 10 = $150.
Gold is quoted to two decimal places, so a one dollar move is 100 ticks of 0.01. Some platforms call a tick a pip and some call a dollar a pip, which is why two traders can describe the same move with a tenfold difference between them. This calculator gives you both, in dollars per ounce, so there is nothing to misread.
Everything here is in US dollars, because gold is priced in dollars. If your account is in sterling your broker applies the exchange rate at the time. This does not, deliberately: a wrong conversion would be worse than none.
The ones people actually ask.
